We’ve been saying the name Daniel Broberg a lot at The Coaches Site lately – for good reason.
The brains behind the TCS course 7 Steps from Basic Skills to Smooth Power, has 36 years of coaching experience and is regarded as one of the most reputable hockey skills coaches the game has to offer. The Swedish trainer, whose training method focuses on his players becoming more confident in the skills they have, has been on our TCS Live presentation radar since the first ever conference in 2010.
“Busy, sorry.”
“Booked already, my apologies.”
“I can’t make that work, my sincerest regrets.”
Year after year, he couldn’t fit TCS Live into his intense schedule. Until now, that is. Daniel Broberg will be presenting at TCS Live 2025, running June 12-14 at the University of Michigan, and we could not be more excited.
What’s all the hype about? Grab a coffee or tea and get comfortable because we’re about to tell you.
Broberg caught the coaching bug at the ripe age of 16 and by age 20 he was already coaching Hammarby, the top team in Sweden’s Allsvenskan League. This is where he learned the ins and outs of how to coach and relate to players. Broberg described his time at Hammarby as “Hockey Heaven” – every day was a learning experience and the knowledge he gained behind the bench allowed him to discover what players needed to be successful.
After spending nearly a decade behind the bench in Sweden, he discovered the technical and physical aspects of the game were where his true passion resided. As a result, he made a shift and began focusing on coaching youth and university players. Broberg also began running one-on-one and small group sessions with NHL players to help them get more hands-on training to improve their game. With that DB Hockey Factory was born.
In his training program, Broberg keeps the athlete’s long-term goals in mind. He recognizes that everything taught in individual skill development ultimately needs to help the player win games for their team. This perspective has driven the way he has crafted his training program by creating ways for players to build confidence and feel more comfortable with their skill set.
Broberg always starts by assessing the fundamental skills they possess, such as posture, control, and balance. From there, he assesses what type of role they play on their respective team. With these details in mind, Broberg creates a strategic development plan that challenges his players to build on top of their pre-established basic skills in order to achieve the ultimate goal of winning games.
A lot of how he teaches is expertly demonstrated in his TCS course 7 Steps from Basic Skills to Smooth Power.
In addition to crushing it on the ice and building DB Hockey Factory into a skills teaching juggernaut, Broberg has also taken the time to carefully curate a strong social media presence. With over 43,000 followers on his Instagram account DB_Hockey_Factory, he demonstrates many of the development drills that he puts the game’s best through during one of his training sessions. Broberg also participated in a social media takeover of the NHL’s official Instagram account where he showcased an intense ice session practice, challenging many of the household NHL names.
Broberg takes great pride in sharing information with others through social media in an effort to help players learn and better their craft. The platform also provides him a spark of inspiration by watching skilled hockey players and coaches and uses this as a springboard in evolving his training program.
What truly separates Broberg and his development program is his relentless passion for the sport. Almost every day you can find him at the rink helping train both established NHL superstars and inspired youth players looking to build their skills for the next level, which he explained on a previous episode of the Glass and Out Podcast.
We are excited to welcome Daniel Broberg to TCS Live this June, where he will share insights on his unique development training designed to help players build confidence in their skills.
