Al Montoya became the first Cuban American and native Spanish speaker in the 100-year history of the NHL when he was drafted 6th overall by the New York Rangers in 2004. Since his 14-year playing career ended in 2019, Montoya has dedicated his (second) career to growing hockey through underrepresented markets. His role as VP of Cultural Growth & Strategy for the Dallas Stars provides a multicultural approach to sports business. From ensuring access and opportunity, to introducing new and influential business partners, Montoya works tirelessly to demonstrate Hockey is For Everyone.
