When it comes to rising voices in hockey coaching who blend relationship-building with performance excellence, Brennan Sonne is a name that’s gaining serious traction. At just 37-years-old, Sonne has already carved a path marked by impactful leadership, elite player development, and a deep understanding of what it takes to build winning environments at every level of the game.
Before joining the professional ranks, Sonne spent three standout seasons as Head Coach of the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades, where his teams were among the most consistent and competitive in the league. Under his guidance, the Blades not only reached the playoffs each year, but also captured the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as the WHL’s best regular-season team – a testament to his ability to foster performance and accountability.
In 2024, Sonne took the next step in his coaching journey by joining the Coachella Valley Firebirds as an Assistant Coach. There, he’s continued his focus on developing players and strengthening team culture while working alongside seasoned professionals and helping prepare future NHL talent.
That blend of experience and insight is exactly what brings Sonne to TCS Live 2026, taking place August 6–8 in Edmonton, Alberta. Set against the backdrop of hockey’s global stage and gathering coaches hungry to grow, TCS Live is where ideas ignite, perspectives expand, and practical tools travel home with attendees.
At TCS Live, Sonne won’t just talk about systems and structure. He’ll explore how to build environments where players feel supported yet challenged, how to communicate expectations with clarity and care, and how to transition from developmental philosophy to day-to-day coaching actions that elevate teams.
His story isn’t just about wins on the scoreboard, it’s about crafting cultures where players and coaches alike feel accountable, confident, and ready to compete at the next level.
