In September of 2023, Kim returned to her alma mater Trinity College and became the first full time female assistant coach in Men’s NCAA hockey. The 2023-2024 season would be marked by a 25-4-1 record, a NESCAC Championship, and a trip to the NCAA Div. III National Championship Game. When not with the Bantams, Kim spent time as a coaching intern with the Colorado Avalanche this past season – attending their development & training camps as well as taking in various games throughout the season.
Prior to Trinity, she spent two season in the North American Hockey League with the Maryland Black Bears. When their head coach fell ill for a week in March of 2023, Kim became the first female coach to record a win in North American junior hockey when she stepped in for 3 games, winning all three. The Black Bears went on to win the East Division of the NAHL & fall two wins short of the Robertson Cup during the 2022-2023 season.
Kim’s coaching roots come from youth & girls’ hockey, having spent ten years developing players in the Washington D.C. area. In addition to her current work in men’s hockey, she is an evaluator & camp coach for the United States Women’s Olympic Team.
