Derrick Henderson is Assistant Coach with the Columbus Mavericks. Originally from Southeastern Pennsylvania and raised in New Jersey, Henderson started with street and roller hockey before playing ice hockey at Bowling Green State University, where he was also a student equipment manager. Henderson has coached at various levels, including Ohio State Women’s ACHA, PHA Prowlers, St. Francis DeSales HS, and Maine Jr. Mariners U18 AAA. A member of the NHLCA BIPOC Mentorship Program, Henderson is recognized as the first Black Head Coach of a varsity high school hockey program in Ohio.
